USB Microphones
There are many considerations when choosing a podcast recording microphone. Your recording environment will be the biggest consideration. The type of cable connector of each will also play a big factor. The two main types of wired connectors are USB and XLR.
USB microphones are the simplest to set up. Just plug them into your computer or your mixer and you are ready to roll.
XLR Microphones
XLR microphones are more adaptable with the type of interface that they can use but cannot be directly connected to a computer. These microphones must be plugged into a mixer or recorder before going into your computer.
